Romiley Marina Swimming Club is a community based swimming club based at Romiley Leisure Centre.
Our Club provides local family members with the opportunity to learn to swim in a safe and friendly environment. Should they want to develop their competitive skills and compete in galas then this is facilitated under the direction of a friendly and motivated Coaching Team.
Teachers and Coaches are ASA Qualified and, as volunteers, give up their time freely to help develop swimmers and maintain the high standards within the Club. Our Poolside helpers are swimmers that have graduated through the Club. They are all encouraged and supported by the Club to gain their ASA Poolside Helpers Award which feeds into the Club’s Quality Framework. We teach our swimmers within the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).
Lessons for Beginners and Improvers take place on Friday evenings. Badge and Distance Nights are held periodically to assess the swimmers’ progress and also to award the swimmers for their achievements.

Competitive swimmers have access to up to 4 training sessions per week and galas are held both within a League format and at other annually held invitational and Association meets. This is in addition to our Club Championships to which all our members are encouraged to participate.
Our swimmers range in age from 5 years old to over retirement age!! So there really is something for everyone – from children up to Grandparents.

All our swimmers are encouraged and supported to attain their own potential at a rate which the swimmer, their parents and the Coaches all feel is appropriate for that individual swimmer. The Club recognises that the Parent’s input and support, in relation to their child’s development as a swimmer, as being fundamental and, as such, all parents are actively encouraged to assist in the running of the Club in addition to helping out on poolside. In this way we retain the ‘Family Feel’ that is so important in running a successful local Swimming Club.
